Who is responsible
Kinetic is an independent, solo-run project — see the credit in the footer for who’s behind it. Whoever runs it is the data controller under Canada’s PIPEDA and, for visitors from there, the UK and EU GDPR. Questions, requests and complaints all go to privacy@kinetictimer.com.
What is collected, and why
Your email address
When you sign in. It is how the sign-in link reaches you, and how your account is identified.
Needed to provide the account you asked for.
Your display name and country
If you fill them in after signing in. Both optional. So the app can greet you by name.
Your choice. Leave them blank and nothing is stored.
Your task titles, categories and estimates
Only after you sign in, as your history syncs. So your focus history survives a lost device and reaches your other ones.
Needed to provide the sync you signed in for.
How many seconds you focused, per day and category
Only after you sign in. It is what the stats screen shows you.
Needed to provide the account you asked for.
A rating, a note, the app version and your browser type
Only if you send feedback. So a bug report can be reproduced.
Your choice. Sending feedback is entirely optional.
Product usage events (timer starts, task activity, sign-in)
Only if you accept the analytics prompt shown on your first visit. So we can see which parts of Kinetic actually get used and improve those.
Your choice. Decline it and none of this is ever collected.
Where it is stored
The database is in Ohio, United States. If you are in the UK or the EU, that means your data is transferred outside your country. The transfer relies on the standard contractual clauses in the agreements with the companies below, which is the mechanism UK and EU law provides for exactly this.
SupabaseOhio, United States
Stores your account and your synced focus history.
VercelUnited States
Hosts the site and counts page visits without cookies.
ResendUnited States
Sends your sign-in link and any email you have opted into.
SentryUnited States
Reports crashes so they can be fixed. Your identity and your data are stripped out.
AmplitudeUnited States
Records product usage (timer starts, task activity, sign-in) to understand how Kinetic is used. If you're signed in, events are linked to your account ID — never your email.
Cookies and local storage
Kinetic sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Signing in uses a session token. Vercel Analytics counts visits without cookies. Product usage analytics (Amplitude) only run if you accept the prompt on your first visit.
How long it is kept
Your account and history are kept for as long as your account exists. Ask for deletion and everything goes within 30 days: the account, the history, all of it. Anything still sitting only in your own browser is yours to clear at any time, and clearing it does not need anyone’s permission.
Deleting from your account settings starts a seven-day wait before anything is destroyed. Your account carries on working normally throughout, and a banner at the top of the app offers Keep my account for the whole week, so a mistaken tap is undone in one click. We email you when you ask, telling you the exact date it will happen, and again once it is done.
Your rights
- Ask for anything wrong to be corrected.
- Ask for your account and all of its data to be deleted.
- Withdraw consent for product emails, or for product usage analytics, at any time.
- Complain to your data protection regulator if you are unhappy with the response.
To use any of them, email privacy@kinetictimer.com from the address you signed up with. There is no charge and no form to fill in.
Children
Kinetic is not intended for children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them. If you believe a child has signed up, email the address above and the account will be removed.
Changes
If this policy changes, everyone with an account is emailed before the change takes effect. This isn't a request for approval — it's notice. If you don't agree with a change, you're free to close your account at any time.
