How Kinetic works

The whole app on one page. Nothing to set up, nothing to sign in to.

1. The timer loop

Focus, break, repeat. In the mode that fits the work.

The loop

FocusBreakRepeat

Three modes

  • Work15 min focus · 5 min break
  • Study30 min focus · 10 min break
  • Creative50 min focus · 15 min break
Change these in Timer settings, reset any time.

Round progress

Each dot is one focus session in the round. Fill them all and the next break is a long break instead of a short one.

The ringed dot is the session you're on now. Change how many sessions per round in Settings.

Running late? Nudge it

5 minAdd or take off 5 minutes mid-session.

Floating timer

Pop the timer into a small always-on-top window so it stays visible while you work in another tab.

Closes if you leave this page. Needs a browser with picture-in-picture support.

What's new

A banner under the nav bar highlights each release's changes, once, right when you land on the timer.

Dismiss it and it won't come back until the next release.

2. Tasks & categories

Say what you're working on; the timer files the time for you.

Focus session endsLogged to the active task

No stopwatch to start, no entry to fill in. Pausing, skipping, or switching tasks logs whatever ran so far — Reset is the one exception: it discards the current attempt instead, so nothing from it is logged.

Timer settings

Each mode has its own focus and break lengths — change them anytime from the settings icon.

Also controls sessions before a long break, auto-start breaks, and the alert sound.
